If you hear it for the first time you might be wondering what on earth is a Flower Tea? Is it even possible to intake natural flowers? Aren’t these soft and colorful flowers kept for the little hummingbirds and vibrant butterflies to sip in the nectars from?

Well, not exactly. Even we humans are allowed to take a sip of what in this modern world is popularly known as Flower Tea, or simply Tisanes.

What is a Flower Tea?

Flower Tea, also known as Tisanes, is a natural infusion of flowers, or flower parts such as petals, calyx, or buds in hot water. Due to the innate softness in nature flower teas are generally smoother in taste than any other form of tea. Tisanes come under the category of Herbal Tea.

Difference between Flower Tea & other Tea

In general, Teas are made from the leaves of the plant Camellia Sinensis. These are then processed and oxidized before packing. This includes all sorts of teas such as Green tea, Black tea, White Tea, Oolong Tea, etc. However, Flower Teas differ from them fundamentally as Tisanes are made directly from natural flowers. They do not undergo any processing once plucked. They are simply sun-dried, and freshly packed.

Caffeine Content

Because Flower Teas are not made from the Camellia Sinensis plant and they are not oxidized unlike green tea, black or the rest, Tisanes are totally caffeine-free just like any other Herbal teas which are not made from the Camellia Sinensis plant.
