You're invited to be part of our monthly adventure.

From the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium to the San Diego Zoo, we'll explore new places and experience all new experiences each month with our own GTE TECHNOLOGY Adventures. Plus, you'll have a chance at winning a $50 gift card every month!

Go ahead, come join us on this journey of discovery. You won't regret it. It's kinda fun!

Geography Technology Expo (GTE) is an institution that teaches students about geography through different technology exhibitions each semester in college campuses across the United States. We are also working on expanding internationally for a global impact in geography education worldwide.

What is the adventure like?

The adventure will take place in different locations around the United States where students travel with us, with their smartphones and on the web, to experience geography through technology exhibitions. In addition, we will also be doing activities and fun activities every month.

What are the rules to join in the GTE TECHNOLOGY Adventures?

The one-night adventures require you (to participate) to first download our GuidedGeo app from either Apple or Google Play, which will serve as our guide during this experience. On weekends, we will meet up at different locations for dinner and field trips.

What should I bring with me on GTE TECHNOLOGY Adventures?

A smartphone is required to participate in this event (Android or iOS). You are also required to download our app for access on said smartphone device. This app will serve as our guide in this excursion and will provide you with a map of our route, your location and possible field trips along the way.

Are children allowed to join?

Children are allowed but not recommended due to the lack of parental supervision. A parent or guardian must be present at all times in the adventure. Each adventure has a maximum number of participants which are limited by availability.

Why do we need an app to participate?

We have a GPS-enabled app (GuidedGeo) that will give you real-time updates on our location and possible field trips along the way. We also use this app so we can record our route in case you want to take pictures of your experience.

Do we need to bring our own food?

If we do dinners, we will provide you with dinner meals but you would have to pay for your own drinks. Please come prepared with cash if possible, but there are also food establishments around us where you can buy something if needed. The adventures usually last between 3-6 hours.

What will happen if we get lost?

If we do get lost, our app (GuidedGeo) will know where you are and can guide us back to our starting point. You must also be able to give us your GPS location on the app and your phone number so we can text you back when we are nearby. We will not leave until you arrive at the starting point.

Conclusion

The GTE TECHNOLOGY Adventures are a great way to learn about geospatial technology and how it is used in different fields. To ensure our adventures are productive, there are some rules you must follow. Without these rules, we cannot have a successful adventure.

1) You must download our app (GuidedGeo) on your smartphone and have it downloaded before the date of the event. The app can be downloaded on the Apple App Store or Google Play for free and is available for both Android and iOS devices. This app will serve as our guide during this experience and will provide you with a map of our route, your location and possible field trips along the way.

2) You must be able to provide us with your phone number and access to a GPS signal. We will not go out of our way to find you, but if we do get lost, we need to know our starting point so we can locate you and get back on track.

3) Stay within the designated area of the adventure according to the app (GuidedGeo). If your phone is near a location that should be avoided by our team, such as a water hazard or other dangerous area, this will also be in your logbook so you will have something documented that you are responsible for.
