Wegovy is a weight management medicine that is approved by the FDA for treating obesity only in adults. However, to qualify for this medication, adults should have a minimum BMI (body mass index) of 30. Additionally, one should also have at least one or more overweight-related diseases. Moreover, health professionals believe that one should use Wegovy with a proper calorie-reduction diet and an increase in exercise. But sadly, Wegovy weight loss medicines have certain side effects and risk factors.

What is Wegovy?

Wegovy contains an active ingredient called semaglutide, a GLP-1 analog and it is been designed to suppress appetite. Therefore, you will eat lesser food resulting in weight loss. Besides, Wegovy helps in mimicking the action of GLP-1 (gut hormone) which is released after eating. This then slows down the process of the food movement in your gut. As a result, you will feel full for longer periods.

According to the study, people who use maximum doses of Wegovy can lose about 12% of their total body weight when compared to those people who don’t use Wegovy. However, there is the risk of regaining the lost body weight after discontinuing Wegovy. Hence, people need to continue their reduce calorie diet and increase exercise.
