1. Feyenoord 1-0 Roma

Feyenoord will take great pride from being unbeaten at home this season in European competition, even though their first leg loss to Roma would be devastating. Within 10 minutes after restarting play, Mats Wieffer gave them the advantage and sent Feyenoord on its way. His volley past Rui Patricio sealed Feyenoord's place in Italy for further play-off action.

Just before halftime, Roma were poised to extend their lead further but Lorenzo Pellegrini fouled Oussama Idrissi and earned a penalty kick; Idrissi hit the crossbar but Roma were kept from scoring thanks to Wieffer's stunning volley that bounced into their net and away to a far corner of the field.

De Kuip was the scene of Roma's first-ever European defeat since 2011. Furthermore, that means the Netherlands are unbeaten at their own ground since 2011 in any knockout UEFA club competition matchups at De Kuip.

Giallorossi can look forward to next week's second leg at Rome's Olympic Stadium where they will face either Bayer Leverkusen of Germany or Union Saint-Gilloise of Belgium; the winner of which will face their counterpart from another pair in the semi-finals.

2. Juventus 1-0 Sporting

Federico Gatti's goal helped Juventus secure a narrow, one-goal win against Sporting Lisbon in Turin on Tuesday evening. Although Juve were dominant throughout, their Portuguese opponents still managed to keep them at bay; but thanks to Mattia Perin's brilliant double save in stoppage time they managed to stay on course towards reaching the semi-final stage.

Angel Di Maria began the match impressively for The Old Lady, lofting an exquisite pass to Frederico Chiesa whose shot was blocked by Antonio Adan of Sporting before eventually the home side gradually began to get their bearings and Sebastian Coates saw his shot saved by Szczesny before Nuno Santos had his low drive blocked by Gleison Bremer.

Perin stepped in for Szczesny shortly before halftime after he had been injured and quickly made an impactful debut, saving Pedro Goncalves' curling effort early in the second period. Later in stoppage time Sporting had an opportunity to take the lead when Pote pulled the ball across but Perin quickly blocked it before eventually sending Sporting home winless.

3. Union Berlin 1-0 Ajax

Union Berlin have made history by qualifying and reaching the round of 32 of the Europa League for the first time, defeating Ajax along the way to qualify. They also reached the second round of UEFA Cup competition during 2001/02 season.

German team took an early lead thanks to a penalty after Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey brought down Danilho Doekhi inside Ajax box, prompting Robin Knoche to score and excite home supporters with his goal.

Ajax attempted to climb back into the game but were foiled by a foul on Josip Juranovic just before halftime that gave their hosts control. Things only got worse for Ajax after Mohammed Kudus scored within two minutes of restarting play for 3-1 scoreline.

At halftime, neither team made any adjustments and continued battling until the very end. It was an intense and tough game to watch; both the players and fans shared in its emotional impact.

4. Nantes 1-0 Juventus

Juventus secured an unforgettable Europa League triumph on Thursday thanks to an angel Di Maria hat-trick that saw them defeat Nantes 3-0 on the night and 4-1 overall to secure Massimiliano Allegri's team an amazing Europa League triumph. They stormed past Nantes within the opening half and capitalising on Nicolas Pallois' red card by increasing their advantage even further.

Nantes have made an explosive start, yet have struggled to break free from their opponents' pressure despite Sissoko and Locatelli dropping into midfield positions. Meanwhile Girotto has done an outstanding job keeping Di Maria away from Rabiot.

Feyenoord have defeated Roma 1-0 in the first leg of their semi-final at Rotterdam's De Kuip stadium, with Netherlands midfielder Mats Wieffer scoring late in the second half to take an important advantage into halftime despite receiving a penalty just prior to that break from Roma midfielder Gianluigi Buffon - while Paulo Dybala left early and Abraham injured himself later during this clash.
