SMRT's Futuristic Stations & Extensive Network Growth

As per LTA, TEL Stage 4 (TEL 4) of SMRT is slated to introduce seven new train stations across the network by the end of 2024. Soon to introduce SMRT's train stations include Tanjong Rhu, Katong Park, Tanjong Katong, Marine Parade, Marine Terrace, Siglap, and Bayshore. 

According to the recent update shared by LTA, 'Soon Tel 4 testing is going to happen and will be completed by the end of 2024. SMRT will conduct trails of all the seven stations before the commencement of passenger service at the end of 2024". 

Another new expansion for SMRT will be the North East Line Extension (NELe) which will connect Punggol MRT Station to the new Punggol Coast MRT Station. This extension is slated to be completed next year. 

In tandem with the continuous expansion of the SMRT network across Singapore, the Jurong Region Line (JRL) and Cross Island Line (CRL) along with several stations like King Albert Park, Clementi, and West Coast stations in CRL Phase 2 will be completed by the first quarter of 2024. 

The collective new station's construction endeavors of SMRT further aim to get started with 50 new train stations by 2030. In a true sense, SMRT is evolving and expanding its convenience mode of public transportation network to make travel simple for commuters. 

Witness SMRT's Major Upgrades, Extensions, & Integration

As per the ongoing expansion efforts of SMRT, this public transportation means is further directed towards the integration and upgradation of Circle Line as per the forthcoming Stage 6. Recently, ten of the 106 new trains have been introduced across the North-South Line and East-West Line to ensure commutation comfort of passengers. In addition, six new trains have also joined the North-East Line (NEL) for the convenience of commuters to train with ease. 

At the same time, SMRT has initiated the upgradation of first-generation trains on the NEL with specific mid-life upgrades. These new trains will feature an improved security system, efficient speed, and optimum level of comfort. 

Even to accommodate more commuters across Sengkang and Punggol towns, the Sengkang Punggol LRT will undergo a systematic fleet upgrade with the introduction of 25 new two-car trains the next year.
