The 2022-23 season has been a great one for the NBA! This year, we have seen some of the game’s brightest stars make their mark on the court, with many of them have shown some vast improvement this year compared to the previous seasons that they may have had on the court.
In this blog post, we will take a look at how these five players have been performing this season and what kind of impact they are having on the league.
Kyle Lowry
Everyone knows about the ability that Kyle Lowry has, with the 36-year-old an experienced NBA star and one that has been able to continue to produce All-Star level performances despite his age. Currently the only Miami Heat player to have played in every game this season, he is achieving an average of 14.4 points per game, and with the other key metrics in terms of offense also appearing to be rather favorable, he has become a top option for those that are enjoying playing fantasy sports.
Terry Rozier
Terry Rozier is another player that many may not have expected to be on a list of players to have been making a name for themselves in the 2022/23 NBA season for one reason or another, however the 2015 Round 1 NBA Draft Pick - 16th Overall - has started to come good for the Charlotte Hornets this season, and is really performing above expectations. While he is averaging 21.2 points per game, he is showing he can get the job done in a team that has been decimated by injuries. However, the biggest issue of his own game at the moment is efficiency, as he has struggled to be consistent with the ball.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a name that has been impossible for many not to notice this year because of what he has been able to produce on the court. Heading into his fifth season in the league, SGA is looking more like a superstar than ever before. In fact, it has been argued that his contribution for the Oklahoma City Thunder this season is similar to the one that was made by Ja Morant last season, with the latter of the two having been the winner of the Most Improved Player award and seemingly turned into a superstar overnight. In fact, according to the latest NBA odds to have been made available for punters who wish to bet on the eventual winner of this award, Gilgeous-Alexander is the favorite with odds of -143 and is blowing out the competition. This is perhaps because SGA has managed to achieve a points average of 31.3, despite the fact that his team is struggling in the Western Conference at the moment.
Lauri Markkanen
A player that perhaps has a point to prove in the NBA after five average seasons, Lauri Markkanen appears to finally be making a name for himself in the league with the Utah Jazz in his sixth year. The 7'0" forward out of Finland has managed to put his offensive game together in a complimentary way, as he is currently achieving career-best figures with the Jazz. He is an exciting player and one that many are already keeping a close eye on throughout the rest of the season as he continues to perform on the court, especially as he is a leading candidate alongside SGA for the Most Improved Player of the Year Award due to his efficient production.
Bol Bol
Finally, there is Bol Bol, a player who is clearly worth the hype and the wait for him to reach his potential. Having been buried deep down Denver's depth chart for three seasons, he finally appears ready to make his mark on the NBA as a player with the 7'2" star performing well for the Orlando Magic. A player that many believe is built in the way that a modern NBA star should look, Bol is a player that many are liking whenever they see him on the court. The problem? The fact that he does not always get the opportunity. He joined a stacked frontcourt that also claimed the top rookie in Paolo Banchero in the NBA Draft, but he is showing just why so many were all too happy to be hyping over him when they first saw his ability in college.
